History of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Lyrics

The poetry “The Star” was written by Jane Taylor, an English novelist who was born in 1783 and passed away in 1824. The words of the lullaby were taken from this poem. This rhyme was presented to the public for the very first time in 1806 in Jane and Ann’s collection of poetry titled Rhymes for the Nursery.

The song is performed to the tune of the French melody “Ah! vous dirai-je, maman,” which was originally published in 1761, around 50 years before “The Star.” The song is sung in French. The French melody “Ah vous dirai-je, Maman” was arranged in the future by a number of different composers, one of them being Mozart, and the arrangement was included in a collection called Twelve Variations on “Ah vous dirai-je, Maman.”

Despite the fact that just the first stanza of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” is particularly well-known, the song’s modern English lyrics feature a total of five verses.
