Ahoi Mata Aarti is a Hindu devotional song performed in appreciation of Ahoi Mata, a Hindu goddess considered as the defender of family and the carer of children. The Aarti is often conducted during the Ahoi Ashtami festival, which occurs on the eighth day of the waning phase of the moon in the Hindu month of Kartik.
The song is usually followed by the lighting of diyas (lamps) and the giving of fruits and sweets to the goddess. The Ahoi Mata Aarti is a Hindu practise that is said to bring blessings and prosperity to the family.
